What Is A Health Coach?

What is a Health Coach & How do I Become One?
Ever thought of working with a health coach? What about becoming one? Surprisingly, a lot of people aren’t even quite sure what a health coach is – Are they a certified nutritionist? They’re similar to a personal trainer, right?
A health coach covers all of these aspects. In truth, a health coach offers a more holistic approach to your health and wellness. They incorporate food and exercise into your health plan – and then some.
And if you’re still confused, don’t worry about it. In this article, I’m going to cover it all so you can figure out if a health coach is right for you, or if it might even be a career path you want to take on.
What is a Health Coach?
A health coach is an educated and trained health professional. They (like me!) help you create and sustain permanent healthy habits, enabling you to lead your best life.
With a health coach, you work with them one-on-one. Usually, these are individual sessions. You might touch-base with them weekly, bi-weekly, or every month, depending on your situation or their preferred strategy.
And each health plan is different. They’ll look into what you need and your goals, then create a plan, involving your diet, fitness, and lifestyle, suited to you.
The Benefits of Working With a Health Coach
One of the biggest benefits of working with a health coach is that you have an accountability partner. This is something many individuals struggle with when it comes to improving their health – but you don’t have to!
With a health coach, you have someone to report to. You’ve got to follow through on your plans. And if you don’t, you have to show up to the next session and figure out why those health plans fell through. This can help you determine how to be successful next time.
A health coach can also help boost your confidence and help you build greater self-awareness, something many individuals are lacking. They’ll empower you and cheer you on. They’ll make you feel more capable when it comes to making healthy choices in your life.
Want to Become a Health Coach?
Obtain your certification, then it’s all about getting experience. Certificate courses are available online and in-person, depending on where you live. Make sure you do the research before paying for any course or program since not all are considered valid.
Up next, you’ll want to gain experience. This can help propel you into a full-fledged business. Get your first few clients and strive to get good reviews (this shows proof that you know what you’re doing!).
Personally, I’ve loved being a health coach and helping others transform their lives. If you have any questions regarding signing up for health coaching or becoming one, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m more than happy to help!
